Adelphi is close to hitting the million mark for the number of bottles refilled at the University bottle filtration systems.

Adelphi is approximately a week away from hitting the million mark for the number of bottles refilled at the University bottle filtration systems. This is a collective number for the systems at the Garden City campus, and also a system at each of the Hauppauge and Manhattan Centers – 50 in all, with additional installations planned.

Why is this important?  Because it’s pretty impressive that our students, staff and faculty have saved a million plastic bottles from landfills.  Every time you refill your bottle, the system counts up – to counting down landfill “deposits.”

We are planning a big splash to announce the millionth bottle filled, which by the stats monitored to date, should be some time next week.  Perhaps you will be the winner of the $250 Ecoplum Gift Certificate for the millionth bottle filled!

On behalf of the Campus Sustainability Committee and Student Government Association’s Project Water program, thanks for Growing the Green at AU.
